Escalation
The opposition armed forces, led by the Hayʼat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), launched sudden attacks against the Syrian regime forces and their allies in the cities of Idlib and Aleppo on November 27, 2024, and managed to completely control them, except in some small villages run by the Kurds. In response, Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad’s forces, with the help of the Russian airplanes, bombed places in the two cities.
In a statement, the Foreign Ministry added that Egypt condemned all measures that threaten the security and stability of the region and lead to fueling the fragile situation in the region and igniting the state of tension and intensifying the conflict in the region.
The escalation occurred after Israeli forces stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque and assaulted worshipers, and the subsequent firing of missiles toward Israel, and Israeli airstrikes that targeted areas in southern Lebanon and the Gaza Strip, with the continuation of confrontations and violence.
The pan-Arab body said this military action violates international law and undermines efforts to bring stability and peace to Syria.
