CAIRO - 28 February 2026: As part of its ongoing monitoring of the current military escalation involving the Islamic Republic of Iran and its serious repercussions for regional security and stability, Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs, headed by Dr. Badr Abdelatty, held intensive consultations with a number of Arab and European counterparts.
The consultations included the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, France, Germany, Austria, and Spain, in addition to the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy. The discussions focused on the alarming developments related to Iran and explored ways to support de-escalation efforts and contain tensions in the region.
During the talks, Egypt stressed the urgent need to prioritize political and diplomatic solutions in order to prevent the conflict from expanding and the region from sliding into a broader confrontation that would have grave consequences for its peoples and resources.
The consultations also highlighted the importance of strengthening regional and international coordination to safeguard regional stability, ensure the security of international navigation, and protect the interests of all states.
Participants further condemned attacks targeting the security, safety, and sovereignty of several brotherly Arab countries, with Egypt expressing its full solidarity with them.
Egypt reiterated during the communications that there are no military solutions to regional crises, emphasizing that dialogue and negotiation remain the only viable path to addressing current tensions.
Cairo affirmed that it will continue its diplomatic engagement with all relevant parties to support de-escalation efforts, prevent further deterioration, and preserve regional and international peace and security.
