Iran Deal
In a phone call on Saturday, Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani welcomed the US-brokered agreement and urged full execution of its provisions.
The meeting, held on the sidelines of a gathering of regional parties hosted by Egypt, brought together Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.
Egypt’s Badr Abdelatty, Saudi Arabia’s Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Türkiye’s Hakan Fidan, and US adviser Massad Boulos also discussed developments in Africa, including Libya, as well as the Palestinian cause.
The Egyptian Presidency underscored the “critical importance” of the agreement signed by Trump and Pezeshkian in reducing tensions, preventing further escalation and restoring security and stability across the Middle East.
FM Abdelatty expressed his aspiration that this memorandum of understanding (MoU) ushers in a new phase of de-escalation, confidence-building and the restoration of security and stability across the Middle East.
Israel is holding talks with the United States over the future of its troop deployment in southern Lebanon, two Israeli officials told Reuters on Thursday.
Talks covered boosting bilateral relations between both countries in various fields, including economic ties and investments.
The memorandum provides for the "immediate and permanent termination of military operations" on all fronts, including in Lebanon, and outlines a framework for addressing Iran's nuclear program, reopening shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, and lifting sanctions on Tehran.
The remarks came during talks between the two leaders on the sidelines of the Group of Seven (G7) Summit in the French city of Évian, where discussions also touched on broader regional developments.
The meeting comes amid intensified diplomatic efforts to secure a final agreement with Iran aimed at ending the conflict in the Middle East and restoring normal global shipping flows disrupted by the war.
The fund consists entirely of private-sector funds and spans various investment fields, with more than half of the financing already committed, according to the source.
Trump described the agreement as establishing “A WALL TO NO NUCLEAR WEAPON,” claiming that Iran will not seek to acquire nuclear weapons through purchase, development, or any other means.
The incident strains the fragile US-Iran ceasefire that has largely curbed hostilities started by the US and Israel against the Persian nation on February 28.
A US administration official said Trump is seeking stronger provisions on Iran's nuclear program, including how and when the US gets the material, before approving the proposed deal.
Iranian sources have dismissed recent comments by US President Donald Trump on a potential agreement with Tehran, describing them as a mix of “truth and falsehood” and an attempt to present a “manufactured victory,” according to Iran’s Fars News Agency.
US President Donald Trump met with senior aides on Friday to make what he described as a "final determination" on a proposed framework aimed at extending the ceasefire with Iran.
President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi stressed the importance of seizing the current diplomatic opportunity to reach a comprehensive agreement through negotiations between the United States and Iran, during a joint call on Saturday with US President Donald Trump and several Arab and regional leaders.
US President Donald Trump said on Saturday that an agreement involving the United States, Iran and several regional countries have been “largely negotiated” and was now “subject to finalization.”
“There is real concern that Trump will reach a bad deal. Israel is trying to influence it as much as it can,” according to one of the officials.
Meanwhile, Trump suggested that a deal would lead to reopening the Strait of Hormuz to all shipping.
