Egypt strongly condemned Iran's Wednesday strikes on Bahrain and Kuwait, describing them as a flagrant violation of the two Gulf states' sovereignty and warning that the attacks mark an unacceptable escalation that threatens regional security and stability.
Abdelatty said “confidence-building measures” based on non-aggression would need to be taken.
Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and his Kuwaiti counterpart, Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, reviewed developments in the US-Iran talks and efforts aimed at halting escalation and ending the war.
The Egyptian foreign ministry condemned “acts of intrusion and vandalism” targeting the Kuwaiti consulate general in Iraq’s Basra, as well as strikes on infrastructure in Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Bahrain.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty communicated Egypt’s position during phone calls on Saturday with the foreign ministers of Germany, Jordan and Saudi Arabia, in addition to European Commission officials.
Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani commended the “sincere” mediation efforts exerted by Egypt, alongside Turkey and Pakistan, to contain the conflict.
The House of Representatives and the Senate described the security of the Arab Gulf states and Jordan as integral to Egypt’s national security.
The government is closely monitoring developments to ensure stable supplies, enhance competitiveness and preserve economic gains achieved in recent years amid a highly volatile global environment.

El-Sisi made the remarks during a meeting on Saturday with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz in Jeddah, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
