CAIRO – 22 March 2026: Cairo said on Sunday there has been no deaths among Egyptian nationals in Gulf and eastern Arab countries as a result of military actions amid the war in Iran and escalating Middle East tensions.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates refuted “misinformation” on social media regarding Egyptian deaths due to military actions.

The ministry said in a statement that the situation of the Egyptian expatriates remains “generally reassuring” across all Gulf and eastern Arab states.

The ministry said its efforts had enabled the transit of thousands of visitors and residents from states including Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Iraq and the United Arab Emirates to Oman, Jordan and Saudi Arabia to facilitate their return to Egypt.

Others have also returned following the partial resumption of flights from some countries.

‘Natural Deaths’

The ministry said there has been a very limited number of deaths among Egyptian nationals due to natural and medical causes in some countries.

The bodies will be repatriated to Egypt as soon as flights resume and airspace reopens, with efforts also underway to transfer them overland to the nearest country for onward shipment home as quickly as possible, in coordination with local authorities.

The ministry said it is closely monitoring any such cases and taking all necessary measures for swift repatriation.

Cairo is monitoring the situation of Egyptian communities in Gulf and eastern Arab countries on a daily basis through a dedicated committee chaired by the deputy foreign minister.

The committee holds daily virtual meetings with heads of diplomatic and consular missions in Gulf states to assess developments and their impact on Egyptians there, the ministry said.

Round-the-clock task forces have been set up across diplomatic and consular missions in Gulf and eastern Arab countries to receive inquiries from Egyptian nationals and provide full consular support.

Missions have also been instructed to exercise maximum flexibility to facilitate consular services and ensure the safety and well-being of Egyptian communities.
