The CBE attributed this substantial growth to ongoing positive impacts from economic reforms introduced in March, which have boosted foreign currency inflows.
Additionally, remittances for the period from July to August 2024 increased by 76.2 percent, reaching around $5.6 billion, compared to approximately $3.2 billion during the same period last year.
The initiative is implemented in coordination between the Ministry of Awqaf (Endowments) and the Ministry of Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates' Affairs.
The initiative, launched for the first time in 2023, allows Egyptians between the ages of 18 and 30, as well as those who have exceeded this age range, to settle their military service status while staying abroad.
Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli announced that remittances from Egyptian expatriates are gradually returning to their usual levels, particularly due to the narrowing gap between the official exchange rate and the black market rate.

State authorities are preparing for the 2024 Presidential Elections as millions of Egyptians residing abroad will be able to cast their ballot from 1-3 December.
The only fees expats are required to pay now are: 30 percent of customs fees, total development fee and total value added tax (VAT), paid in foreign currency, which will be recovered after five years from the date of payments.
In August, the remittances from Egyptian expatriates decreased to $2.2 billion, compared to $2.4 billion during July 2021.
The CBE elaborated that the period from April to June 2022 witnessed an increase in remittances by 3 percent, to record about $8.3 billion, up from $8.1 billion during the corresponding period.

The remittances decreased by 7.2 percent on a monthly basis as it recorded $3.3 billion in March 2022.
The CBE clarified that the remittances increased by 44.4 percent on a monthly basis which recorded $2.3 billion in February 2022.
CBE added that remittances from Egyptian expatriates during the first quarter of 2021/2020 climbed 1.5 percent on an annual basis to reach $8.1 billion, compared to $8 billion during the same quarter of 2020/2021.
Moreover, remittances from Egyptian expatriates hiked 10.4 percent during the fiscal year of 2019/2020 to reach $27.8 billion, recording its highest record ever, compared to $25.2 billion during the fiscal year of 2018/2019.
Remittances from Egyptian expatriates recorded $2.6 billion in November 2020, marking an annual increase of 27.9 percent.
