CAIRO – 28 March 2026: Egypt has affirmed that prioritizing diplomacy and resorting to dialogue is the only way to prevent the region from sliding into widespread and unpredictable chaos.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty communicated Egypt’s position during phone calls on Saturday with the foreign ministers of Germany, Jordan and Saudi Arabia, in addition to European Commission officials.

The talks emphasized the urgent need to intensify efforts to reduce regional escalation immediately.

US-Iran Negotiations

Abdelatty highlighted Egypt’s intensive efforts, coordinated closely with regional partners, to advance US-Iran negotiations and defuse the current crisis, preventing catastrophic repercussions for the region and the world.

Solidarity with Gulf

The foreign minister reaffirmed Egypt’s firm condemnation of ongoing attacks targeting Gulf states and Jordan, expressing full solidarity with them in the face of threats to their security, stability and sovereignty.

Economic Shocks

The discussions also addressed the war’s global economic impact, with European officials highlighting the resilience of Egypt’s economy in weathering shocks amid regional challenges.

All sides agreed on the importance of sustaining efforts to achieve de-escalation and strengthen regional security and stability.
