CAIRO – 14 March 2026: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on Saturday said Egypt is exerting maximum efforts to help contain the ongoing war in the Arabian Gulf region, warning that its far-reaching repercussions leave no one unaffected.

El-Sisi’s remarks come two weeks into the US-Israeli war, with retaliatory Iranian strikes against several countries in the region killing dozens, disrupting oil supplies, and deepening Middle East instability.

‘Historic Crossroads’

During an annual iftar gathering for the Egyptian family, El-Sisi said the region is standing at a “historic crossroads,” facing major challenges and rapid developments amid an exceptionally sensitive period.

“In the east, we are exerting every effort to extinguish the flames of war in the Gulf region,” the president said.

He warned that the conflict carries “sweeping” consequences that “no one has the ability to avert” and whose impact “will reach everyone without exception.”

Meanwhile, El-Sisi emphasized that Cairo is also working to reduce tensions in other Arab countries experiencing armed conflicts, whether to Egypt’s east, west or south.

The president reaffirmed Egypt’s firm condemnation of attacks targeting Arab states and any measures that undermines their security and stability amid the ongoing regional war.

He stressed Egypt’s full support for Arab countries and renewed calls for de-escalation, dialogue and adherence to international law and international humanitarian law.

‘Egypt not Immune’

Amid escalating regional situation, Egypt “has not been immune” to the economic repercussions of the war, El-Sisi said.

“These conflicts and the heated atmosphere have cast a heavy shadow over the global economy, disrupting supply chains and driving up energy and food prices worldwide, and Egypt has not been immune to these repercussions.”

El-Sisi underscored “essential” and “meticulously studied” economic measures that the government has recently made amid the wars in Gaza and Iran to safeguard national economy.

He reassured people that Egypt “will remain strong and resilient against anyone who seeks to undermine it or harm its interests and standing.”
