Israeli forces have carried out nearly daily attacks despite the ceasefire.
Al-Qassam warned in a Telegram post today that they have lost contact with captives Omri Miran and Matan Angrest due to the military operations and heavy airstrikes in Sabra and Tel al-Hawa neighborhoods over the past two days.
Residents were urged to evacuate the city immediately and head south via the coastal Rashid Road instead.
The United Nations’ commission of inquiry on the occupied Palestinian territories and Israel stated in its report that Israeli forces and authorities carried out four of the five acts defined under the Genocide Convention.
Halevi’s remarks effectively corroborate the figures released by Gaza’s health ministry, which has reported over 64,800 deaths and nearly 165,000 injuries since the start of the war — a toll that Israeli authorities have repeatedly dismissed as Hamas propaganda.
The Israeli military has intensified attacks on Gaza City, home to nearly half of the enclave’s population, striking high-rise towers and pushing residents to evacuate to a so-called humanitarian zone in Al-Mawasi.
Trump warned Hamas that “if you don’t let them (the captives) all out, it’s going to be a tough situation. It’s going to be nasty.”
On Saturday, the Israeli army bombed a towering high-rise building in Gaza City, claiming it was being used by Hamas, though no evidence was provided to support the allegation.
Gaza’s Media Office stated on Saturday that Israel has bombed the Al-Mawasi area of Khan Younis 109 times since the war began in October 2023, despite designating it a “humanitarian area.” Palestinian journalists also reported that Khan Younis was targeted multiple times on Saturday.
Israel kills dozens of Palestinians every day in Gaza and has started the “initial” stage of conquering Gaza City, home to hundreds of thousands of people, and reoccupy the entire enclave.
While a UN-backed report has confirmed famine in Gaza City, the army stated on Friday that the “tactical pauses” announced last month to allow limited aid deliveries to specific areas across the Strip will no longer apply to the city.
Israeli media reported that Netanyahu has no intention of halting “Operation Gideon's Chariots 2,” in an effort to prevent the collapse of his extremist government.
Israeli army spokesperson Effie Defrin stated that Israeli forces have initiated what he described as the “first stages of the attack” on Gaza City and are now holding the outskirts of the city.
Hamas condemned Israel’s intentions to move forward with a plan for occupying Gaza City and displace scores of people stationed there, describing the move as “a major war crime.”
“It will not be a picnic,” Hamas warned. “Our people and the resistance are unbreakable and will never surrender.”
Afterwards, the Israeli defense forces (IDF) -in a statement on its official Telegram Channel- announced that the forces are preparing for continuation of ground operations in the Gaza Strip.
The Israeli so-called security cabinet has approved a new five-point military strategy focused on seizing control of Gaza City, located in the north of the enclave.
The army warned it is “operating with extreme force in these areas, and these military operations will escalate, intensify, and extend westward to the city center"
Graphic videos posted on social media showed bodies on tables at the Thailandy restaurant, which was operating as a community kitchen, a dead man seated on a chair, and several children lying motionless on the ground covered in blood.
Israel must rebuild the two Palestinian schools it demolished, the European Union said as it condemned the Israeli forces actions against Palestinian.
