Cairo Visit
Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah and his Brazilian counterpart, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, have agreed on the need for an urgent ceasefire in Gaza as they held a meeting in Cairo on Thursday.
Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi welcomed his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who is making his first official visit to Egypt in more than a decade to augment the relations between both countries.
According to the Egyptian Presidency, the talks will address the ceasefire in Gaza and the delivery of humanitarian aid to people in the strip.
Several diplomats have noted that the improvement of Egyptian-Turkish relations and activating high-level bilateral cooperation mechanisms will give the region strength and security.
French President Emmanuel Macron praised the efforts that Egypt has made for the sake of people in Gaza, stressing France’s commitment to stand by these efforts.
Iraq’s Prime Minister Mohammed Shiaa Al-Sudani has arrived in Cairo on to co-chair the second round of the joint Egyptian-Iraqi higher committee on Tuesday.
The visit takes place at the invitation of Shoukry, the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
