CAIRO – 30 November 2024: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi stated that he and Gabonese Transitional President Brice Oligui Nguema have concurred on prioritizing the execution of infrastructure projects in Gabon during their meeting in Cairo on Saturday.
In a press conference following their discussions, Sisi said they agreed that these projects would encompass the construction of new roads and the implementation of projects in electricity and sanitation, aimed at fostering development in Gabon.
For his part, Nguema congratulated Sisi on the construction of the New Administrative Capital and expressed his aspiration to accomplish something similar in his country.
Furthermore, the two leaders emphasized the importance of enhancing trade exchange and strengthening relations between the private sectors of Egypt and Gabon.
They agreed to strengthen Egypt's support for Gabon in the health sector and the creation of opportunities for the use of Egyptian medicine in the Gabonese market.
Additionally, they emphasized the importance of enhancing joint cooperation in agriculture, renewable energy, industry, transportation, and in the capacity building of the Gabonese cadres.
Meanwhile, Sisi congratulated President Nguema on successfully completing the referendum on the new Gabonese constitution, which represents a milestone towards the completion of the transitional process in the coming months.
“Gabon is undergoing a successful peaceful transition process to achieve the aspirations of its people for democracy and change,” Sisi said. “This process is being followed and appreciated by various regional and international parties.”
He stressed Egypt’s support for Gabon and its readiness to provide all support to ensure the success of the transitional phase.
The two leaders agreed on the importance of continuing consultation and coordination on these issues so as to ensure achieving peace and security in Africa.
Nguema stated that they are working on enhancing relations with Egypt at all levels, inviting Egyptian companies to invest in Gabon across various sectors.
