Egypt condemned Wednesday the terrorist attack that targeted security forces western Niger, incurring dozens of victims and injuries.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shokry received Sunday a phone call from his Italian counterpart Antonio Tajani.
Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said Egypt is concerned about the developments in Niger, stressing the importance of dialogue to ensure a peaceful solution to Niger's crisis.
US Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken spoke on Wednesday with Nigerien President Mohamed Bazoum to assert the continued unwavering support of the United States for President Bazoum and Niger’s democracy.
The closure of Niger’s airspace also "leaves our compatriots unable to leave the country by their own means," the ministry said.
The statement stressed the salience of maintaining the constitutional and democratic systems in Niger.

The attack resulted in killing more than 100 innocent people in Niger.
The assaults took place Sunday by 100 militants who were riding motorbikes.

The extraordinary African summit kicked off Sunday under the chairmanship of President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi.
