Egypt condemns terrorist attack on Niamey International Airport in Niger

CAIRO – 21 June 2026: Egypt strongly condemned the terrorist attack that targeted Niamey International Airport in Niger, resulting in a number of deaths and injuries. 

In a statement, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry affirmed its full solidarity with the government and people of Niger in the face of terrorism and all forms of violence and extremism.

 

Egypt expressed its sincere condolences and sympathy to the government and people of the Republic of Niger and the families of the victims, wishing a speedy recovery for the injured. Egypt also affirmed its commitment to supporting its brothers in the Sahel countries in efforts to combat terrorism and enhance security and stability in the region.

 

A total of 35 people (2 assailants, 11 soldiers, and two civilians) were killed on Friday when a group of assailants launched explosions and gunshot in Diori Hamani international airport, BBC reported, adding that the al-Qaeda affiliate Jama'at Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslimin (JNIM) announced its responsibility for the attack.
