CAIRO – 23 July 2025: Egypt’s Foreign and Emigration Affairs Minister Badr Abdelatty handed on Wednesday a message from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to President Abdourahamane Tchiani of Niger during a visit to Niamey.

Abdelatty conveyed Sisi's regards to Tchiani, stressing that the visit is part of efforts to strengthen cooperation relations between Egypt and Niger in all sectors and continue providing support to the people of Niger based on the historic bonds binding the two peoples.

The top diplomat also expressed Egypt's appreciation for the notable development in relations with Niger.

He underlined the importance of building on recent achievements to serve mutual interests and contribute to the prosperity and development of both peoples.

In this context, Abdelatty said he is accompanied by a high-level delegation of 30 businesspeople and representatives of major public and private Egyptian companies to participate in the first Egyptian-Nigerien Business Forum.

The forum aims to enhance economic, commercial, and investment cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the sectors of energy, infrastructure, construction, and mining.

Abdelatty emphasized the strategic importance of Niger's stability for Egypt's national security, considering the African Sahel region a natural extension of Egypt's strategic neighborhood.

He underlined the importance of enhancing security cooperation between Egypt and Niger in light of growing terrorist threats and the increasing number of armed groups across the continent.

The meeting addressed the existing cooperation between the two countries in combating terrorism and extremist ideology.

Abdelatty highlighted the leading role played by Al Azhar in spreading moderate teachings of Islam, citing the organization of several training courses for Nigerien imams and preachers and the scholarships granted to Nigerien students to study at Al Azhar University.

He also noted the role of the Cairo International Center for Conflict Resolution, Peacekeeping and Peacebuilding (CCCPA) and the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development (EAPD) in honing capabilities of Nigerian cadres in many domains.

The meeting also covered a number of regional issues of common interest, foremost among which are the developments in the Sahel and West Africa region, the escalating security challenges related to the spread of terrorist organizations and armed groups, as well as the situation in neighboring African countries and their effect on regional security and stability.

For his part, Tchiani expressed his country's appreciation for Egypt's supportive stances of the Nigerien people and its constant keenness to stand by Niger in facing security and developmental challenges.

He also praised Egypt's leading role on the regional and international levels, and the support provided by Al Azhar in the fields of religious and cultural education in Niger
