Derailment
The Egyptian National Railways Authority announced that a minor incident occurred on Saturday morning involving passenger train No. 450, operating from Damanhour to Tanta via Qallin, as it entered Mahalla Rouh Station at approximately 7:50 a.m.
The authority said the incident occurred at 5:00 p.m. local time as Train No. 919, an upgraded Spanish-built service operating between Cairo and Alexandria, was arriving at the station.
The Public Prosecution ordered the apprehension of the train driver, his assistant, and the train chief pending investigation.
As a result of the derailment, a carriage fall, but cranes managed to lift it; meanwhile, a tractor dragged the train back to its normal course on the tracks, the official said, adding that no human or financial causalities were reported.
ERA will receive four rail test machines worth €8.5 million by the end of 2020.
The movement of trains in Upper Egypt has resumed on the two lines in Badrashin.
