Drone Attack
A drone targeted a cargo vessel sailing from Abu Dhabi, while in Qatari waters northeast of Mesaieed Port on Sunday, according to the Qatari defense ministry.
The ministry said Kuwait’s air defense systems detected seven hostile drones since dawn, three of which were intercepted and destroyed, while two others fell outside the threat zone and posed no danger.
The advisory, circulated to police departments in late February, cited intelligence indicating that Iran had considered carrying out a surprise drone operation from a vessel positioned off the US coastline.
The Houthis, who have launched dozens of missile and drone attacks on Israel since the outbreak of the Israeli war in Gaza in 2023, have not claimed responsibility as of the time of writing.
The ship Conscience caught fire and sustained a substantial breach in the hull after armed drones attacked the front of the unarmed civilian ship twice, the coalition said.
Prime Minister was not present at home during the incident, and that there were no casualties reported.
In a recorded speech, Yahya Saree, the spokesperson for the Houthi fighters, stressed that the attack involved "a number of Yaffa drones" without specifying the exact number.
The Sanaa health ministry reported on Saturday fatalities and injuries following a series of Israeli airstrikes on oil storage facilities in the Houthi-controlled port city of Hodeidah in western Yemen.
According to the group, the attack resulted in casualties among the Israeli soldiers.
In a statement, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it condemns “with the strongest terms” the Houthi attack through two drones in the city of Mukalla.
“Egypt condemns the repetition of these despicable attacks by the Houthi militia, which were effectively addressed by the joint forces of the Coalition supporting legitimacy in Yemen, through intercepting and destroying these drones,” the statement added.
Eight Saudi citizens and an Indian national were injured in the attack.
