CAIRO – 22 October 2022: Egypt denounced on Saturday the drone attack carried out by the Houthi group on Dabba oil port in Hadramout province, southeast of Yemen.

In a statement, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it condemns “with the strongest terms” the Houthi attack through two drones in the city of Mukalla.

Egypt held the Houthi group responsible for the current escalation in Yemen and blamed the group for obstructing efforts of renewing truce in the country.

In this regard, Egypt stressed the necessity that Houthis abandon its obstinate positions and respond immediately to the regional and international efforts to renew truce.

This should come in a way that paves the way for reaching a permanent ceasefire, makes way for political settlement efforts, and alleviates the suffering of the brotherly Yemeni people, the statement noted.

Egypt warned against the consequences of exploitation of international circumstances by any part to fuel the conflict in Yemen and threaten the security and stability of the region and navigation routes.

Egypt also warned against attempts to seize the economic capabilities of the Yemeni people, affirming firm support to the unity and sovereignty of Yemen.

Egypt voiced its full solidarity with Egypt against all threats.

The Yemeni Houthi group launched an attack on Friday against a cargo ship at an oil port in a warning strike. This is the first attack announced by the group since a UN-mediated truce between warring sides in the country expired on October 2.
