In a bid to create a new type of tourism, Fayoum governorate is set to host one of the most promising projects, titled: "Safe Sanctuary for Wildlife."
Egypt’s Ministry of Environment, Fayoum governorate, Princess Alia Foundation, and Four Paws International have signed a quadripartite cooperation protocol to establish a wildlife shelter in Wadi El Rayan reserve.
The project in Fayoum’s Tamiya town is part of the third national drainage program funded by a loan of 43.5 million euros from the KFW and a loan of 38 million euros from the EU to establish covered drainage networks, said director of the program Hala Said.
The project supports the local community in Fayoum, as they are the basis for all development processes.
The lake had been subject to tremendous pollution for years.
