Spain’s King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia Make Historic Royal Visit to Luxor.
“The medal of honor you presented to me represents a profound symbol of your noble sentiments,” the First Lady said in a social media post on Friday.
Their tour in Luxor is part of their historic trip to Egypt as the first by King Felipe and his spouse and the first by a Spanish monarch since 2008, when King Juan Carlos I and Queen Sofía they visited archaeological sites in Cairo.
Luxor has completed the necessary preparations in anticipation of the visit, including raising Egyptian and Spanish flags.
Egypt’s First Lady Intisar El Sisi, expressed her happiness on Wednesday at receiving the Queen of Spain.
President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and King Felipe VI of Spain emphasized the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the release of captives and detainees, while warning of the consequences of Palestinian displacement plans.
President El-Sisi awarded King Felipe VI the Order of the Nile, Egypt’s highest state honor. He also presented Queen Letizia with the Order of the Virtues in its highest class.
King Felipe VI of Spain and Queen Letizia will begin a state visit to Egypt, Tuesday at the invitation of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. The 4-days visit will start on 16 September until the 19th of the same month.
Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi thanked on Thursday King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain for ‘the warm welcome and generous hospitality’ he received during the visit.
The president also invited them to visit Egypt at the earliest opportunity.
