Hamas Delegation
A Hamas delegation led by Gaza-based leader Khalil al-Hayya has arrived in Cairo for a new round of talks aimed at advancing the Gaza ceasefire agreement, the group said on Sunday.
Hamas said in a statement that the delegation will hold talks with “the Egyptian leadership” and has already started meetings with Gaza peace mediators from Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey.
The talks would aim to halt the ongoing genocide in Gaza and achieve the aspirations of the Palestinian people—particularly the restoration of national unity and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
Hamas affirmed their commitment to positive engagement with any proposals that lead to a permanent ceasefire, a complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza, an end to Palestinians’ suffering, and a serious prisoner exchange deal.
The Israeli military stated that the strike targeted a drone that had crossed into Gaza from Israel, along with "several suspects" attempting to retrieve it in what was described as a botched smuggling operation.
The SIS added that Egypt is conducting intensive contacts with all parties to quickly reach second phase of the ceasefire agreement, which has entered into force since January 19, 2025.
Hamas said in a statement on Wednesday that the meetings, which already commenced, will follow up on the ceasefire and prisoner swap agreement through the dedicated technical committees and the mediators.
It is scheduled that the delegation will meet with the Egyptian leadership and discuss developments in implementing the ceasefire agreement and prisoner swap deal between Hamas and Israel in its three stages, the statement added.
A delegation from Hamas is scheduled to arrive in Cairo on Saturday evening to be briefed on the ongoing negotiations and be updated on the introduced maps by the Israeli side, said Hamas member Izzat Al-Rishq in a statement on Saturday.
A High-level source stated told Al-Qahera TV News Channel the Egyptian security delegation taking part in the talks between Palestinians and Israelis, have reached a consensus formula on many points of disagreement regarding establishing a truce in Gaza.
A Hamas delegation, led by Deputy Chief Khalil Al-Hayya, is set to travel to Cairo on Sunday for a new round of ceasefire negotiations.
