CAIRO – 2 April 2026: A senior Hamas delegation, led by the movement’s chief, Khalil Al-Hayya, has arrived in Cairo to follow up on the implementation of the Gaza ceasefire agreement.

Hamas said in a statement that the delegation will hold talks with “the Egyptian leadership” and has already started meetings with Gaza peace mediators from Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey.

The delegation is also scheduled to hold a series of national consultations with leaders and officials from various Palestinian factions aimed at reaching unified positions on key issues.

In recent days, the delegation, headed by Al-Hayya, held separate meetings in Ankara with Turkish officials, including intelligence chief Ibrahim Kalin and Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.

Discussions in Turkey focused on developments in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, as well as Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement.

Over 700 Palestinians have killed in Gaza since the ceasefire came into effect in October, according to the enclave’s health ministry.
