CAIRO-20 August 2020: Former Barcelona Dutch player, Ronald Koeman, was presented on Wednesday as the new manager of Barcelona on a two-year deal.

"It's a big challenge and it won't be easy because Barca always demands the best of you, which is the way it should be." Koeman said.

Koeman has been linked with the top job at the Catalan club on various occasions but the current crisis in Barcelona forced the manager to resign as the Dutch national team manager to take charge of Barcelona.

He added "Barca are still the biggest club in the world. Now we have to work hard to make sure Barca get back to where they should be. There is enough quality in the team to demand the best results and to win trophies."

Koeman, who represented Barcelona as a player for six years between 1989 and 1995, aims to return Barcelona to the right track.

Barcelona were humiliated in Lisbon when they were knocked out of the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals after losing 8-2 to Bayern Munich.

This loss led to the dismissal of Barcelona manager Quique Setien and the club's Sporting Director Eric Abidal.

He continued "We're going to work very hard to build a strong team but we'll have to make changes because the image of the other day is not what we want. We'll have to work hard to recover our prestige."
