CAIRO – 7 August 2018: Chilean midfielder, Arturo Vidal, has been presented as new player for Barcelona on Monday. The Chilean joined the Catalan club from Bayern Munich and will wear the Barcelona jersey for the next three years.

“He is a player with proven experience at high-level teams, and he has good experience in Europe, and he will bring us a lot, with intensity, style and quality,” Barcelona Vice President Jordi Mestre told the press during the presentation.

Vidal has been linked with a move to Inter-Milan and Premier League clubs, Manchester United and Chelsea, but once Barcelona offered him a contract, he rejected all the offers to join Barcelona.

Vidal revealed his happiness after signing his contract, stating, “I am very happy, happy, eager to start training with my teammates, to wear this big shirt and be able to do important things.”

Vidal is the third Chilean player to wear the Barcelona jersey after his teammates at the national team, Alexis Sanchez and Claudio Bravo.

Vidal added, “During the three-year contract, I hope we can win everything we play for.”

Barcelona fans hope to see their new signing on Sunday at Stade Ibn Batouta in Tangier, Morocco, when Barcelona face Sevilla at the Spanish Super Cup.
