CAIRO – 10 June 2021: Egypt’s Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Khaled el-Enani convened on Thursday with Resident Coordinator of the United Nations in Egypt Elena Panova, who recently assumed office. 

 

 

 

Enani spoke about the strong relations between Egypt and the United Nations in various fields. He explained that the ministry works with the UN directly through UNESCO, UNWTO and with the UNDP indirectly through the Ministry of Environment on the ECO-Egypt Campaign to promote ecotourism and raise the awareness of the staff of the tourism sector on the importance of preserving the environment.

 

 

 

Both officials discussed mutual cooperation and exchanging expertise in the fields of tourism and antiquities directly with the UNDP, by launching awareness campaigns and raising the tourism and archeological awareness of Egyptians; in addition to making archeological sites and museums more inviting to visitors with special needs.

 

 

At the end of the meeting, Panova congratulated Enani on the ministry's great success to present a great procession while transporting the royal mummies, expressing her happiness to have attended such an exceptional event during her stay in Egypt
