The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) said that if the war in Gaza continues for a second month the poverty rate in Palestine will soar by 34 percent, thrusting nearly half a million additional people into poverty.
The Egyptian Red Crescent delivered 27 tons of medical aid to Sudan in collaboration with the UNDP, and through funding provided by the European Union.
Khalida Bouzar, assistant secretary-general and director of the UN Development Programme Regional Bureau for Arab States said the UNDP is keen to provide all forms of support to Egypt in implementing the National Strategy for Climate Change during the coming period.
The statement added that the initiative was implemented in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
Madbouli's remarks came during his meeting with UNDP Administrator Achim Steiner on the fringe of the 8th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 8) hosted by Tunis on August 27-28.
