MB-affiliated Hasm terrorists busted targeting Egypt's national security
CAIRO – 22 January 2020: Egypt’s National Security Agency has managed to reveal a series of devious schemes by the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood group and its members in Turkey to undermine the pillars of security and stability, spreading chaos in the country and destroying its economic capabilities, coinciding with the 9th anniversary of the January 25 Revolution.
The scheme included spreading anger and discord among citizens by promoting and broadcasting fake news and rumors via news outlets and social media platforms, including Facebook and Telegram, to polarize infuriated supporters of the terrorist organization and people who are being fed with the dramatic amount of fake news and information.
A number of these calls were launched by groups and pages with the titles The Popular Movement and The Joker, which also publish fake interviews regarding the internal affairs of the Egyptian state.
This is in addition to assigning the terrorist Hasm Movement of planning and preparing a series of terrorist operations to target vital figures, buildings and worshiping houses during the January 25 anniversary.
Providing the necessary financial support to prepare the equipment, weapons and tools required for the terrorist scheme through the development of several methods for smuggling money from abroad through commercial companies that are being used as a front for the organization's activity.
Preparators of the terrorist scheme, who currently reside in Turkey, were identified as follows:
1- Tamer Gamal Mohamed Hosni – AKA/ Atwah Kinanah Head of the so-called Joker Groups - Wanted for terrorist activities.
2- Hany Mohamed Sabry Mohamed Ismail – Head of the so-called Popular Movement - Wanted for terrorist activities.
3- Hudhayfah Samir Abdulkader Al-Sayed – Head of the foreign media committee - Wanted for terrorist activities.
4- Ahmed Mohamed Abdulrahman Abdulhady – Head of the armed division - Wanted in seven terrorist cases.
5- Yahia Al-Sayed Ibrahim Mosa – Administration officer of the armed division - Wanted in five terrorist cases.
6- Ahmed Ibrahim Fouad Al-Shorbagy – One of the organization’s finance transfer officers - Wanted in four terrorist cases.
7- Faten Ahmed Ali Ismail – One of the organization’s finance transfer officers - Was sentenced for 10 years in prison for committing terrorist activities before escaping.
The follow-up efforts also led to the identification of online groups that carry out polarization operations and prepare for riots and sabotage operations against state facilities, where a number of terrorists are seized.
Forces were able to bust 14 individuals with cartridges, joker masks, primitive gas masks, blades, slingshots, and spike strips.
Moreover, a number of individuals affiliated with the media committee of the terrorist organization were seized as well as equipment and devices that included drones, computers, cameras and cell phones that have a number of end-to-end communication applications installed on them.
The arrests also included a number of Hasm terrorists involved in this scheme, and a previous terrorist operation in Qalyubia. The terrorists were stacking 20 machine guns, 12 shotguns, two rifles, a sniper rifle, rocket-propelled grenades, ammo, seven highly explosive devices, bomb materials and disguise kits.
All the necessary legal actions were taken against the preparators as the Supreme State Security Prosecution is carrying out the investigation and pursuing the rest of fugitives.
The Ministry of Interior strongly affirmed that it will keep on defending the country against any attempts against the security and safety of Egypt and its citizens, calling upon the great people of Egypt to beware of incentive calls, rumors and fake news that aims at sowing discord and destabilize the country.
