CAIRO - 22 June 2026: The regional Quartet comprising Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Turkey stands as a collaborative consultative platform dedicated to enhancing Middle East security and lowering escalations, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty said.

Speaking during a briefing with diplomatic correspondents at the conclusion of the Quartet's fourth ministerial meeting in Cairo, Abdelatty emphasized that the mechanism addresses regional crises objectively through political and peaceful solutions, stressing that the framework is not directed against any country.

The high-level summit featured Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, who collectively held an extended meeting with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

The Quartet ministers mirrored regional discussions held alongside the G7 Summit involving President El-Sisi, UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, and Qatari Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

Those discussions with U.S. President Donald Trump and G7 leaders underscored the absolute consensus that the Palestinian cause remains the core of the regional conflict.

Ministers agreed that sustainable regional security arrangements cannot exist without granting the Palestinian people their full legitimate rights and establishing an independent state along the June 5, 1967 lines with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The Cairo summit marked the first time the Quartet issued a joint statement, which called for an immediate halt to illegal actions in the occupied West Bank and Gaza, an Israeli withdrawal from occupied Lebanese territories, and the implementation of the second phase of the Trump peace plan.

Further, the Quartet focused heavily on supporting ongoing negotiations in Switzerland between the U.S. and Iran, aimed at securing a final agreement within a 60-day window following their initial memorandum of understanding.

President Sisi praised the collaborative mediation efforts of Pakistan and Qatar in reaching this breakthrough. Abdelatty noted that the four pivotal states will utilize daily coordination to enforce foundational international principles, specifically non-aggression, the non-use of military force to settle disputes, non-interference in internal affairs, and total respect for state sovereignty.
