CAIRO – 20 June 2026: Cairo has stressed the need for a humanitarian truce in Sudan leading to a lasting ceasefire and the resumption of the political process in talks with Khartoum on Saturday.

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt's support for Sudan's unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity during a meeting in Cairo with his Sudanese counterpart, Mohieldin Salem.

Abdelatty reiterated Egypt’s rejection of the establishment of parallel entities in Sudan.

He also called for ensuring humanitarian access to affected areas and respecting the principle of Sudanese ownership of the political solution.

The Egyptian foreign minister underscored the importance of the efforts made by the international Quad aimed at restoring stability and ending the conflict.
