CAIRO – 14 June 2026: An Israeli airstrike targeting an apartment in Ghobeiry, a suburb in Beirut's southern district, killed one person and wounded four others, according to a preliminary toll reported by Lebanon's National News Agency on Sunday.

The strike in Dahieh came as the United States and Iran move closer to an agreement to extend a ceasefire that is reportedly expected to include Lebanon and pave the way for ending the war.

Despite de-escalation efforts, Israel has continued carrying out near-daily strikes in Lebanon, particularly in the country's south, since the outbreak of the Israeli-US strikes on Iran.

Israel claims the operations are aimed at targets linked to Hezbollah.

According to figures released by Lebanon’s health ministry, Israeli strikes have killed more than 3,700 people and injured over 11,600 others since the escalation began.
