The ERC's humanitarian aid convoy moves toward the Gaza Strip after Israel announces a tactical pause, 27 July 2025 - ERC
CAIRO – 27 July 2025: The Egyptian Red Crescent (ERC) has launched a convoy of 100 humanitarian aid trucks carrying more than 1,200 tons of food supplies to Gaza as Israel announced “tactical pauses” starting Sunday.
The ERC posted photos for the convoy, dubbed “Zad Al-Izzah (Provision of Honor): From Egypt to Gaza,” while moving toward the enclave. The aid comprises around 840 tons of flour and 450 tons of various food baskets, the ERC said in a statement.

The trucks will reach the enclave from Egypt through the Karam Abu Salem crossing, the statement read, noting that the aid is bound for southern Gaza.
The ERC said more than 35,000 aid trucks carrying over 500,000 tons of aid have arrived in Gaza since the start of the Israeli war.

Assistance has included food, water, medical supplies, medicines, and essential items such as personal hygiene products, baby formula, and diapers, along with ambulances and fuel trucks.
Sources told Egypt’s Al Qahera News that the ERC will launch a humanitarian campaign for Gaza starting Sunday morning, with aid including flour and other food supplies, besides medicine.

The Israeli army, responsible for killing nearly 60,000 Palestinians including many due to malnutrition, announced on Sunday that it will start 10-hour pauses in three areas across Gaza to facilitate humanitarian aid deliveries.
The “tactical pause” was set to start on Sunday and last from 10 AM to 8 PM local time every day until further notice, the Israeli army noted in a statement on X.

The pauses will include areas where the forces are not operating, including Gaza City, Deir Al Balah and Al Mawasi areas, the Israeli army added.
They also announced designating secure routes from 6 AM to 11 PM to ensure the safe movement of UN and aid organization convoys and allow distribution of food and medical supplies to the population “throughout” the enclave.
The army was also set to start airdrops of aid in Gaza from yesterday night, according to their announcement.

Food experts have frequently warned of a looming famine in Gaza as photos of children, skin and bone and dying from hunger, have drawn global outcry and triggered intensive calls from Israel’s closest allies in Europe for an end to the war.
The UN World Food Programme (WFP) has warned that a quarter of the population in Gaza is facing famine-like conditions, with Israel placing heavy restriction on aid entry.
Gaza’s health ministry noted on Saturday that a total of 127 people, including 85 children, have lost their lives to starvation and malnutrition.
