CAIRO – 31 July 2023: Egypt condemned Monday the terror attack that took place Sunday in Pakistan incurring around 54 deaths and 200 injuries so as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs extended - in a statement - condolences to the government and people of Pakistan.

The ministry stressed in the statement the country's fixed stance and rejection to all forms of violence, asserting its full solidarity with Pakistan in the face of extremism and terrorism.

The attack that targeted "an election rally for a pro-Taliban cleric" is suspected by the police to be the doing of the Islamic State, as reported by the Associated Press. It happened in a market in Bajur, a district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province lying on the borders with Afghanistan.
