Houthi Attack
On Saturday, the group said it carried out its first strike on Israel since the war began, firing “a salvo of ballistic missiles” at “sensitive” Israeli targets in the occupied Palestinian territories.
The drone impacted the passenger terminal of the airport, said the Israel Airports Authority
Ben Gurion Airport suspended takeoffs and landings after the missile hit near the main terminal of the international airport, located near Tel Aviv.
The Israeli army reported that air defenses successfully intercepted the missile.
The Israeli army asserted that the missile was shot down before crossing into Israeli territory, according to local media reports.
“We warn all airlines that the so-called Ben Gurion Airport has become unsafe for air traffic and will remain so until the aggression against Gaza stops and the blockade is lifted,” the Houthis' military spokesman, Yahya Saree, stated early Saturday.
"The missile succeeded in reaching its target despite the enemy’s censorship,” said the Houthis
This assault, which ranks among the most serious on Tel Aviv since the onset of the Israeli war on Gaza on 7 October, is part of the Houthis' escalation against targets associated with Israel in recent months.
Eight Saudi citizens and an Indian national were injured in the attack.
