CAIRO – 30 March 2025: Israeli authorities announced on Sunday that they intercepted a new missile launched from Yemen, which triggered sirens in several towns near Jerusalem and in the West Bank.

The Israeli army asserted that the missile was shot down before crossing into Israeli territory, according to local media reports.

A 42-year-old woman was injured after falling into a ditch while seeking shelter during the alert on a highway between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.

The Houthis have launched several missile attacks on Israel since Israel resumed its war in Gaza, shattering a two-month ceasefire and killing nearly 1,000 people. This brings the total death toll since the onset of the Israeli war in Gaza in 2023 to around 50,300.

Throughout the war, the Houthis have conducted numerous attacks on Israel, as well as on vessels linked to Tel Aviv and US warships, in an act of solidarity with the Palestinian people.

In mid-March, the US started intensive bombardments in Yemen after the Houthis announced they will resume attacks on Israeli vessels amid blockade of aid to besieged Gaza.

The US strikes have targeted various governorates, including the capital, Sanaa, killing dozens of Yemenis.

The Houthis have vowed that they will not be deterred from defending the people of Gaza, warning that they will "meet escalation with escalation."

FRESH ATTACKS

On Sunday, Houthis’ spokesman Yahya Saree said they targeted Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv with a Zulfiqar ballistic missile, asserting that the operation successfully achieved its objective.

Earlier on the day, Saree said they also “engaged with enemy warships,” including the American aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman.

He said they will not back down from supporting the Palestinian people until Gaza aggression stops and the siege is lifted, stressing that “dozens of daily raids will not deter” them from “fulfilling their religious, moral and humanitarian duties.”
