The meeting comes as part of Egypt’s ongoing efforts to promote stability in the Palestinian territories, Extra News reported, noting that the Palestinian intelligence chief joined the meeting.
Head of Egypt’s General Intelligence Service (GIS) Hassan Rashad has met with Palestinian Vice President Hussein Al-Sheikh as per of continued Egyptian efforts to end the crisis in Gaza, Al Qahera News reported on Thursday.
The discussions will focus on developments in Gaza following the cessation of the Israeli war.
This move, supported by Egypt, aligns with the reform initiatives of the Palestinian Authority that were outlined during the Extraordinary Arab Summit held in Cairo on March 4, said the Egyptian Foreign Ministry in a statement on Sunday.
The Executive Committee is scheduled to convene again next Saturday to select a successor to Al-Sheikh for the position of Secretary-General from among its members.
Palestinian Minister of Civil Affairs Hussein al Sheikh will visit Russia on Saturday to meet with Russian officials.
