El-Sisi welcomed Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed at Alamain International Airport on Sunday during a fraternal visit, the Egyptian Presidency said in a statement.
El-Sisi welcomed the UAE leader as a dear guest in his second home, Egypt, underscoring the special place Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed and the UAE hold among the Egyptian people in light of the deep-rooted and multifaceted ties between the two countries.
“What affects the UAE affects Egypt,” El-Sisi said.
During phone calls on Sunday with Qatar’s Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, El-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s condemnation of Iranian attacks on Gulf states.
The visit came as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the close ties between the two nations’ leaderships and to affirm the importance of continued consultation and coordination in support of the interests of both peoples as well as the stability and security of the region.
During their meeting, Sisi and bin Zayed are expected to address key issues of mutual interest, particularly the current regional situation, according to a statement from the Egyptian Presidency.
The Grand Imam of Al Azhar, Ahmed El-Tayeb, and the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, have emphasized the importance of ongoing Arab, Islamic, and international efforts to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza.
Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call from President of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
“On my own behalf and on behalf of the Egyptian government, I would like to extend to your highness my sincere congratulations on gaining the confidence of the Federal Supreme Council of the United Arab Emirates and on your unanimous election as president of the UAE, succeeding the late Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al-Nahyan,” Madbouli said in the cable.
In posts on social media, Tayyeb wished the new ruler to proceed with the path of his late father Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan in serving the nation and spreading justice and good everywhere.
Resigned prime minister Saad Hariri wrapped up a short visit to the UAE and left for Riyadh.
