Nile Dispute
US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday he will revisit the dispute over the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), saying the project is causing "tremendous problems for Egypt."
Egypt and Sudan on Thursday reaffirmed their rejection of any unilateral measures in the Eastern Nile Basin that could harm their water interests, urging Ethiopia to abandon such actions.
“Egypt is ready to resort to the judiciary and international legal mechanisms to protect its water rights and will not relent in defending them,” Abdelatty said, condemning Addis Ababa’s unilateral actions in filling and operating the dam.
