Iran Strikes
Egypt condemned the Iranian attacks on Kuwait, Bahrain and Jordan, all of which host significant American military forces, calling them a “grave escalation.”
The Iranian attacks have prompted Bahrain and Kuwait to activate their air defenses as a fifth day of renewed hostilities further strained a preliminary Washington-Tehran agreement aimed at ending the war.
US President Donald Trump said Wednesday that Washington would likely launch another round of strikes against Iran later in the day, signaling further military action after overnight attacks targeting Iranian military assets.
Trump said the US will be “hitting Iran (Whose Navy, Air Force, Radar, Anti Aircraft, and all other forms of Defense, together with most of its offensive capability, are GONE!), VERY HARD TONIGHT.”
Egypt said the repeated Iranian attacks against the UAE represent a direct threat to regional security and stability.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty underscored Egypt’s position during a phone call with UAE’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Tuesday.
“Iran, which is being beat to hell, has apologized and surrendered to its Middle East neighbors, and promised that it will not shoot at them anymore,” Trump wrote in a lengthy message posted online.
CENTCOM gave no details on where or how the casualties occurred, which marked the first reported American fatalities in the current escalation.
The Ministry of Petroleum reassured citizens that Egypt has diversified gas supply sources and prepared alternative capacities before gas flows from the eastern Mediterranean were halted following recent military strikes.
“Iran would be very wise to make a deal with President Trump and with his administration,” the AFP reported, citing White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt as saying.
The evaluation, produced by the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), is based on a battle damage assessment carried out by US Central Command following the strikes, said one of the sources.
