CAIRO – 8 July 2026: US President Donald Trump said Wednesday that Washington would likely launch another round of strikes against Iran later in the day, signaling further military action after overnight attacks targeting Iranian military assets.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Turkey alongside Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Trump said Iran had been "behaving very badly" and defended the US strikes carried out the previous night.
Trump said the operation was launched after Iran fired "a couple of drones and one rocket" at ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
"We hit them very hard last night," he said. "Very, very hard."
The president added that the United States would "probably hit them hard again tonight," saying, "I'll give them a little warning, we're going to hit them hard again tonight."
