CAIRO – 8 May 2026: Egypt on Friday condemned the latest Iranian attacks on the United Arab Emirates, stressing that they constitute a blatant violation of the UAE’s sovereignty and international law.

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Egypt said the repeated Iranian attacks against the UAE represent a direct threat to regional security and stability.

The UAE Ministry of Defense announced on Friday that it had intercepted two ballistic missiles and three drones launched from Iran, with the attacks resulting in three moderate injuries.

Since the start of the US-Israeli strikes on Iranian territory on February 28, Iran has launched thousands of drone and missile attacks against several Arab countries hosting US military bases, killing and injuring hundreds.

Iran has also launched several missile and drone attacks against the UAE in recent days despite a ceasefire with the US that came into effect in early April.

According to the Emirati Ministry of Defense, the country’s air defenses have intercepted a total of 551 ballistic missiles, 29 cruise missiles, and 2,263 drones since the start of the war.

The ministry added that the Iranian attacks have killed three people and injured 230 others, including Emirati citizens and expatriates of various nationalities, since the start of the war.

“Egypt affirms that the continuation and repetition of these assaults represent a blatant violation of the sovereignty of the sisterly UAE and a flagrant breach of international law and the United Nations Charter,” the Egyptian foreign ministry said.

The statement warned that this “rejected escalation undermines regional and international efforts aimed at de-escalation and at establishing the foundations of stability in the region.”

Egypt reaffirmed its solidarity with the UAE and its support for all measures the country takes to protect its security, stability, and the resources of its people.
