“Let me make this very clear once again: Germany is not part of this war, and we do not want to become part of it,” Merz said during a meeting with Norway’s Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre on Friday.
After Hamas and Israel reached a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement to conclude two years of war, Merz expressed appreciation to US President Donald Trump and to the mediating parties: Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey, as well as to the Israeli government.
Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi congratulated on Tuesday Friedrich Merz for being elected as Germany's new chancellor, hoping of closer cooperation to enhance strategic relations.
