President Sisi Congratulates Friedrich Merz on Election as Germany's Chancellor

CAIRO – 6 May 2025: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi congratulated on Tuesday Friedrich Merz for being elected as Germany's new chancellor, hoping of closer cooperation to enhance strategic relations.

In a post on his official social media accounts, President Sisi extended his sincere congratulations to Friedrich Merz on his election as the Federal Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany.

The president hoped to work closely with the German chancellor to deepen strategic relations and enhance cooperation across various fields for the prosperity of the two countries’ peoples.

Sisi also voiced hope of maintaining coordination regarding regional and international issues to promote regional security and stability during this critical timing

“I wish to extend my sincere congratulations to Mr. Friedrich Merz on his election as the Federal Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany. I look forward to work closely together with him to further strengthen the strategic relations and mutual cooperation between our countries in various fields to achieve prosperity to our people and to continue coordinating on regional and international issues to achieve regional security and stability during this critical time,” President Sisi wrote.
