The Egyptian Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy, represented by the Nuclear Power Plants Authority, is preparing to start work on pouring concrete for the first nuclear reactor to generate electricity with a capacity of 1,200 megawatts at the Dabaa plant.
Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Dr Mohamed Shaker said Thursday that the project to establish the Dabaa nuclear plant is witnessing positive dynamic developments,
The delegation conducted a field visit to the plant’s site aiming to stand on the developments in work progress in the project.
It equally inaugurated at the Russian Cultural Center a photo exhibition portraying different nuclear power industries such as nuclear fuel and floating reactors.
The new batch includes students from Egypt, Vietnam, and Kazakhstan, besides Russian students.
The Dabaa nuclear power plant is developed by Rosatom and will be owned and operated by Egypt’s Nuclear Power Plant Authority (NPPA).
The ETRR-2 experimental training research reactor in Sharqiya governorate was supplied by the Argentine company INVAP for construction and delivery of plants and equipment in 1992.
Rosatom said the measures restrict the entry of those who were recently present in one of the countries that are badly hit with the novel pandemic.
