Crescent Sighting
“I pray to Allah to make it a month of goodness, tranquility, and blessings, and to protect our homeland and maintain for it the blessing of security and stability.”
Sunday will mark the final day of Ramadan, with jubilant Eid al-Fitr celebrations scheduled to commence on Monday, lasting for three festive days.
The sighting occurs after sunset on the 29th of the month of Shaban, the eighth month of the Islamic calendar. Upon sighting the crescent, the commencement of Ramadan is confirmed.
The new crescent was not sighted after the sunset of Monday, said Allam, announcing that the 9th of April will be the last day of the holy month of Shawwal, the tenth month of the Islamic calendar.
Egypt’s Grand Mufti Shawqi Allam has stated that all preparations for the crescent sighting had been completed.
