Bahraini interior ministry on Saturday announced uncovering “the principal organization” linked to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and the ideology of “Wilayat al-Faqih,” arresting 41 of its members.
The IRGC’s Ansar al-Mahdi unit in Zanjan province said demolition teams had entered a contaminated area to identify and neutralize unexploded munitions left over from recent airstrikes when a deadly explosion occurred.
The attack occurred approximately 15 nautical miles off Oman’s coast, causing significant damage to the vessel’s bridge but all crew members are safe, the UKMTO added.
In a statement on Sunday, the spokesperson for Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya joint military headquarters said the operation, reportedly aimed at evacuating a pilot from a downed aircraft, was thwarted by Iranian forces.
“If this criminal, child-killer is still alive, he will continue to be pursued and eliminated with full force,” the IRGC said.
Tasnim news agency reported that branches of the US bank Citibank in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and in Manama, Bahrain, were attacked by some drones.
IRGC says it fired heavy-warhead missiles in “wave 43,” claiming targets included the U.S. Fifth Fleet and Tel Aviv, Eilat.
The IRGC said the strike came as part of ongoing operations in response to the US-Israeli strikes, adding that the Iranian armed forces’ campaign had “entered a new phase.”
“For these reasons, the United States military is undertaking a massive and ongoing operation to prevent this very wicked, radical dictatorship from threatening America and our core national security interests. We are going to destroy their missiles and raise their missile industry to the ground. It will be totally, again, obliterated,” he said.
Security sources said the rockets left eight people dead, including "important figures."
The Iraqi State television reported Soleimani's death in a breaking news alert.
The visit comes as protests have been boiling in Iraq, demanding an end to corruption and Iranian interference in the country.
