CAIRO, 31 December 2019: On the last day of 2019; the second decade of the third millennium ends, 3,651 days have carried almost the same number of moments in Egyptian football.

Egypt Today will summarize the most important events in the past 10 years in main 10 events.

1- Egypt is 2010 AFCON Champion for the third time in a row & the 7th time in the history. Hassan Shehata became the first coach to win three consecutive African titles.


2- Port Said disaster happened where 72 fans from Al Ahly died at Portsaid stadium on February 1, 2012.


3- Emad Metab gives Al Ahly and Egypt the title of CAF Confederation Cup for the first time against the Ivorian club Sewe Sport in 2014.


4- Air defense stadium disaster happened where 20 fans from Zamalek died before the Zamalek and Enppi match, which was supposed to witness the return of the public to the stadiums on February 8, 2015.


5- Zamalek won the double; the Egyptian league & Egyptian Cup for the 2014/2015 season for the first time since 2003.


6- Mohamed Salah becomes the best player in Africa in 2017, the first Egyptian to win the award for the first time since El Khatib won it in 1983.


7- Mohamed Salah is the first Arab to win the Premier League Golden boot by scoring 32 goals with Liverpool.


8- Mohamed Salah scored a penalty against Congo at the last minute of the match, so that Egypt qualified for the World Cup for the first time since 1990.


9- Egypt organizes the 2019 AFCON for the first time since 2006. Unfortunately, Egypt was knocked-out from the 16th round against South Africa.


10- Egyptian Olympic national team wins the U-23 AFCON and qualify to Tokyo Olympics 2020.
