CAIRO-26 December 2020: Barcelona star Lionel Messi revealed on Saturday that Pep Guardiola and Luis Enrique played an important role in his career with Barcelona.

"I was lucky that I had a lot of time with Guardiola and Luis Enrique, the two best. Having them [for so long] made me grow a lot in football and in the tactical wisdom that they taught me." Messi said on Saturday.

Guardiola’s era as a head coach of Barcelona witnessed the club’s dominance over football in Spain and Europe, having won 14 trophies including two UEFA Champions League titles in 2009 and 2011.

On a similar note, Luis Enrique was the head coach of Barcelona when the Catalan giants won their last UEFA Champions League title in 2015.

Messi highlighted Guardiola’s coaching style, saying “Pep has something special, he makes you see things in a way. How he prepared the matches, defensively, how to attack, he told you exactly where the game was, how you had to attack to win.”

The six-time Ballon d'Or winner Messi led Barcelona to a 3-0 win over Real Valladolid on Tuesday in the league.
