CAIRO-28 August 2020: Barcelona striker Antoine Griezmann's former agent, Eric Olhats, revealed on Thursday that the French striker wanted to leave the Catalan giants after spending only one year wearing the Azulgrana jersey.

"Before the defeat in the Champions League to Bayern, Antoine only had the desire to leave Barcelona. The reality is that Griezmann perceived that he was not part of the club's plans, that he could not continue like this." Olhats said.

Barcelona were humiliated in Lisbon when they were knocked out of the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals after losing 8-2 to Bayern Munich.

This loss led to the dismissal of Barcelona manager Quique Setien and the club's Sporting Director Eric Abidal.

Former Barcelona Dutch player, Ronald Koeman, was appointed the new manager of Barcelona and he informed the French striker that he is an important player in his plans.

Olhats added "He was seriously studying how to leave. Then what we know happened and a conversation with Koeman reassured him. Koeman expressed his plans, because he considers him an important player for the future."

Barcelona are expected to enter the new season without their biggest star Lionel Messi who informed the club that he will leave the club this summer.
