CAIRO_9 July 2020: Barcelona achieved a 1_0 win on Wednesday night over city rivals Espanyol to keep title hopes alive.

Barcelona's victory sent bottom-of-the-table Espanyol to the second division for the first time in 27 years.

Luis Suarez scored the winning goal for Barcelona at the second half, which witnessed two red cards for Barcelona's Ansu Fati and Espanyol's Pol Lozano.

Barcelona manager Quique Setién admitted that his side  suffered during the game and found it difficult to to break the opponent's defence.

"We found it very difficult against the defence Espanyol had. They were very intense, very closed, and we didn't have the space or precision to move in." Setién said after the game.

Barcelona are one point behind the league leaders Real Madrid, who will take on Deportivo Alaves on Friday night at Alfredo Di Stéfano stadium in Madrid.

Setién added "We'll have to wait and see what Real Madrid do,"

Real Madrid needs eight points from the next four games to secure the league title.
