Al-Ahly and Egypt's Hamdi Fathi suffered a severe knee cartilage injury during training on Monday evening.

The player's medical tests and X-rays after the exercises proved a cut in the cartilage of the knee.

The Football Association also confirmed the costs of the player's treatment.

Hamdi Fathi, 25, played for Egypt in two matches against Tanzania and Liberia, scoring both goals for the Pharaohs.

Hamdi Fathi joined Al Ahli in January from Enppi.

The Egyptian team is preparing for 2021 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers, in which the team will face Kenya and Comoros respectively on 14 and 18 November.

The Qualifiers draw put Egypt in Group G alongside Togo, Kenya and Comoros and the top two teams of the group will secure qualification to the final tournament in Cameroon.

There are 22 players in the camp, including Mohamed El Shennawy (Al Ahly), Mohamed Awad (Zamalek), Mohamed Bassam (Talaea Al Gaish), Ahmed Fathy (Al Ahly), Mohamed Hany (Al Ahly), Abdallah Gomaa (Zamalek), Mahmoud Waheed (Al Ahly)), Mahmoud Alaa (Zamalek), Rami Rabia (Al Ahly) Baher Al Mohammadi (Ismaili) Tarek Hamed (Zamalek), Amr Al Suleia (Al Ahly) Hamdy Fathy (Al Ahly) Mohamed Magdy Afsha (Al Ahly), Hussein Al Shahat (Al Ahly) Ahmed El Sayed Zizo (Zamalek) Hossam Hassan (Smouha), Marwan Hamdy (Wadi Degla), Ahmed Gomaa (Egyptian), Ayman Ashraf "Al Ahly" and Karim Tarek "Talaea Al Gaish", and Mahmoud Abdel Moneim Kahraba (Disportivo Avis).
