CAIRO – 14 October 2018: Spain national team defender, Marc Bartra, believes that Luis Enrique has had a great impact on Spain national team squad since his appointment as a manager after the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

“Luis Enrique has reminded us of our hunger and ambition and we show it in every game. He has given us confidence; the happiness we feel is real and when you get on well it carries onto the field," Bartra told press on Saturday, Oct. 13.

Bartra has known Enrique since 2009 as he has worked under Enrique's command at Barcelona second team for two years. They reunited in 2014 when the coach returned to Barcelona as the first team coach and Bartra was then a key player at the squad.

Bartra added “I've known him since I was 17 years old and at Barcelona B, he has won titles and his concept of football here is very similar to the way we played at Barcelona when we won so many titles.”

Bartra left Barcelona in 2016 to join Borussia Dortmund after he won two league titles, two cup titles and the 2015 UEFA Champions League title under Enrique.

Spain will host England on Monday, Oct. 15 at UEFA Nations League at Estadio Benito Villamarín; the Spaniards need a victory to secure their qualification to the Nations League semis.
